This Tuvalu 1$ Perth Mint 2011 coin represents the fantastic
    Red Back Spider!
~ ONE OF THE WORLD'S SCARIEST SPIDERS ~
After mating, the female eats the male.
A female redback spider can produce eggs for up to two years after a single mating.
Spiderlings emerge after about 14 days and disperse on the wind as soon as conditions are right. T
he male is only about one-third the size of the female and is considered harmless to humans because his fangs are so small.
Unlike the Sydney Funnel-web, the Red-back is
    not aggressive
and if molested will usually fall to the ground, curl up and fake death. Although venemous and hundreds
of people are bitten by Red-back Spiders every year very few are seriously injured.  Deaths
used to occur before an antivenom became available in 1956
    .
The Red Back  is found in all parts of Australia except in the hottest deserts and on the coldest mountains.
It is related to the best known member of the group, the
    black widow spider!

    DEADLY AND DANGEROUS
THIS RARE COIN IS NOT A REPLICA... THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PERTH
    Perth
Mint struck 2,000 Red Back Spider coins specifically for the Russian market in 2011.  They are still legal tender in Tuvalu, however, the reverse design differs from the coin that was struck for the Australian market.  This
1oz Silver Proof Red Back Spider – Deadly and Dangerous -  was issued by The Perth Mint.  Unlike some others, THIS coin is not a replica, but an official Perth Mint coin.  This coin was produced for sale in Russia only and was subject to all required approvals by Perth Mint.
With only 2,000 minted for the Russian market this highly collectible
    Deadly
    and
    Dangerous
Russian Version Red Back Spider silver coin is becoming extremely wanted and valuable.  Some say it may even exceed the value of the 2006 original (5,000 minted) as collector's worldwide want to add this very limited mint coin to their
